Method

Record the live consultation or dictate afterwards. Pause to send a child for investigations and resume later; the segments are labelled and stitched together automatically.
Catat transcribes
The audio is transcribed automatically. Long consultations of 60 to 90 minutes are captured in segments, so nothing is cut short.
A structured draft appears
Catat returns a clean note in the clinician's own structure, subjective, objective, assessment and plan, ready to review, edit and approve.

A draft stays a draft. It enters the record only when the doctor reviews and approves it, never before.
Rewrite any section, correct a finding, or start again. The generated text is a starting point, fully under the doctor's pen.
Notes are drafted from the consultation transcript, so the doctor can check any line against the recording.
Diagnosis, dosing and management remain the clinician's judgement. Catat handles the writing, not the decisions.

Catat works with sensitive clinical data, so how that data is handled is part of the product, not an afterthought.
- Encryption
- Data is encrypted in transit between the clinic and Catat.
- Isolation
- Each clinic's records are kept separate from every other clinic's. There is no shared patient data between practices.
- AI processing
- Transcription and note drafting run through vetted enterprise AI providers under API terms. Your recordings and notes are not used to train their models.
- Ownership
- The clinic remains the custodian of its patient data. Catat processes it to produce notes at the doctor's direction, and does not sell or share it.
- Retention
- Data is kept for as long as it is clinically and legally required, and handled on a need-to-know basis.
Catat follows the principles of Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA): patient data is collected for care and documentation only. Full data processing terms are provided to each clinic during pilot onboarding.
