Clinical documentation, rewritten

Look at the child,
not the keyboard.

Catat listens to the consultation and drafts a structured clinical note in about two minutes. The doctor edits and approves every word. You leave the clinic with your notes already written.

Built for paediatric practice. No note enters the record until the doctor has reviewed and approved it.

In daily use at a paediatric clinic in Kuala Lumpur.

01
The problem

The consultation ends. The typing begins.

In a full paediatric clinic, every patient leaves behind a second job: writing it all up. It gets pushed into the gaps between patients, then to the end of the day, then home.

Documentation can rival face-to-face time.

Across a clinical day, writing up notes can take as long as seeing the patients themselves.

Every visit

Leaves a second job behind.

The note waits to be written, so it slips into the gaps between patients, then to the end of the day.

After hours

Is where the day really ends.

The catch-up writing follows the last patient home. That is the hour Catat is built to give back.

Figures describe the documentation workload Catat is built to reduce. Time saved varies by clinic.

02
Method

Three steps. Nothing new to learn.

Catat fits the way a clinic already runs. Press record at the start of the visit and carry on as normal.

1

Record the visit

Record the live consultation or dictate afterwards. Pause to send a child for investigations and resume later; the segments are labelled and stitched together automatically.

2

Catat transcribes

The audio is transcribed automatically. Long consultations of 60 to 90 minutes are captured in segments, so nothing is cut short.

3

A structured draft appears

Catat returns a clean note in the clinician's own structure, subjective, objective, assessment and plan, ready to review, edit and approve.

About 2 minutes to a structured draft after recording. Up to 90 minutes handled in a single session.

The same recording can also produce

  • Ward round progress notes
  • Developmental screening summaries
  • Referral and parent letters
  • A full EMR note on demand
03
Control

Catat drafts.
The doctor decides.

Catat is an assistant, not an author. It prepares a draft from what was said. The clinician has the final word on every note that enters the record.

i
Nothing saves itself.

A draft stays a draft. It enters the record only when the doctor reviews and approves it, never before.

ii
Every word is editable.

Rewrite any section, correct a finding, or start again. The generated text is a starting point, fully under the doctor's pen.

iii
Grounded in what was said.

Notes are drafted from the consultation transcript, so the doctor can check any line against the recording.

iv
The medicine stays human.

Diagnosis, dosing and management remain the clinician's judgement. Catat handles the writing, not the decisions.

Privacy

Patient information,
handled with care.

Catat works with sensitive clinical data, so how that data is handled is part of the product, not an afterthought.

Encryption
Data is encrypted in transit between the clinic and Catat.
Isolation
Each clinic's records are kept separate from every other clinic's. There is no shared patient data between practices.
AI processing
Transcription and note drafting run through vetted enterprise AI providers under API terms. Your recordings and notes are not used to train their models.
Ownership
The clinic remains the custodian of its patient data. Catat processes it to produce notes at the doctor's direction, and does not sell or share it.
Retention
Data is kept for as long as it is clinically and legally required, and handled on a need-to-know basis.

Catat follows the principles of Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA): patient data is collected for care and documentation only. Full data processing terms are provided to each clinic during pilot onboarding.

05
Questions

Questions clinics ask.

What is Catat?
Catat is a voice-to-notes assistant for paediatric clinics. It records the consultation, transcribes it, and drafts a structured clinical note in the doctor's usual format. The doctor reviews, edits and approves every note before it enters the record.
Does Catat make clinical decisions?
No. Catat drafts the written note from what was said in the room. Diagnosis, dosing and management remain entirely the clinician's judgement, and nothing is saved until the doctor has reviewed and approved it.
How does Catat keep patient data safe?
Data is encrypted in transit and each clinic's records are kept isolated from every other clinic's. Transcription and note drafting run through vetted enterprise AI providers under API terms, and your recordings and notes are not used to train their models. Catat follows the principles of Malaysia's PDPA, and full data processing terms are shared during onboarding.
Do I need new hardware or a new system?
No. Catat runs in the browser and fits your existing appointment workflow. You press record at the start of a visit and carry on as normal, so there is nothing new for your clinic assistant to learn.
Can it handle long developmental consultations?
Yes. Catat handles sessions of 60 to 90 minutes by capturing them in segments, and you can pause mid-session to send a child for investigations and resume later. The segments are labelled and stitched together automatically.
How much does Catat cost, and how do I start?
Catat is currently in a limited pilot with a small number of paediatric clinics. Register your interest below and we will walk through setup, data handling, pricing and fit for your workflow.
Who develops Catat?
Catat is developed by Purple Playhouse Sdn Bhd and shaped in daily use at a paediatric clinic in Kuala Lumpur, so it is built around how a real clinic documents rather than a generic template.
